Update on Google+ shutdown

In October of 2018, Google announced that it would sunset the consumer version of the Google+ (Google Plus) social media platform. Enterprise customers using Google+ within companies through G Suite will continued to be supported and Google will be launching new features purpose-built for businesses. Now Google has released details on how the consumer version shut down will proceed, and steps that users should take to back up any media posted to Google+.

Some IEEE entities may have set up Google+ sites using the consumer version. If you are using Google+ as part of your social media strategy, you should follow Google’s recommendations and transfer your social media efforts to other platforms.

In addition, the shutdown may require you to remove Google+ icons and related links from websites, email templates, and/or other print collateral.
